While a computer is considered to be the top tool for getting things done, the iPad is the best go to choice for those who don’t care to be chained to their desk, or travel often due to their job. There are a variety of ways to use the iPad to help get things done, keep things organized and make your job easier than ever whether you are a domestic engineer, sales person or any other type of professional.

A great way to help work smarter is to transfer important documents to your iPad so you have them when you need them. iTunes allows you to sync documents to your iPad and to do that, choose your iPad in iTunes navigation  bar, click on the Apps tab and scroll to File Sharing. At that point, click on the app that transfers documents, choose the documents you want to sync and click on Sync. It’s that easy.

Here are some other things you can do to work smarter with your iPad:

  • Sync your iPad with Dropbox so you can access files without having to hook up to your computer.
  • Use the Air Sharing HD app so you can use your iPad as a wireless disk drive.
  • Download the QuickOffice app from the Apple Store so you can attach documents to an email. You can also attach photos and other files to emails also.
  • Change your email signature to a more professional one by tapping on Settings, Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars and then Signature. When you get to the next screen, delete “Sent from my iPad” and add whatever new signature you want to appear in your emails. Make sure to click on the tab on the top of the screen that says, Mail, Contacts” and choose save.
  • Use your iPad to project presentations to prospective customers or your work team. To do this you will need the Apple Digital AV Adapter and you can then attach that to your iPad’s dock connector. You will also need an HDMI cable to connect your iPad to a monitor or projector. When your iPad is hooked up, open your presentation and use your iPad as the remote control that will swipe through slides. You can also press and hold the display to make a laser pointed appear.
  • Use your iPad to send faxes by downloading Fax Print &Share Pro from the iTunes App Store. When you have this app, you just need to open the document that you want to fax and select Fax Print &Share Pro, tap Fax and then select a cover sheet option. From there you can fill in the information you need to use to send the fax including who the fax is to, the subject and any notes you want to add. Then just tap send.

There are also a variety of other activities you can use your iPad for that will make your work life much easier. Your iPad can help you make travel plans, reach a destination and manage your schedule so you never miss an appointment. Make sure to password lock your iPad if you keep sensitive business information on it.
