Offroad Legends Sahara is another game in what is becoming the very crowded physics racing genre on the iOS. It is getting harder and harder for a physics racing game to stand out on the app store these days, and many great games can slip between the cracks and go unnoticed. So the big question is will Offroad Legends Sahara be a physics racing game that is a ton of fun to play and get the credit it deserves, or is it just another racing game making up the numbers?

One thing that you have to give Dogbyte Games a ton of credit for right off the bat is just how amazing this game looks. The game simply looks gorgeous. Everything about this game looks great, both the vehicles and the environments. As well as the game looking great I also love the way they opted to use monster trucks as the vehicles. Monster trucks to me have not really been used that much in games like this so it’s great to see a game trying to stand out from the crowd. Also the very highly detailed desert style levels do a great job in making Offroad Legends Sahara look different from other physics-based racing games. One really cool thing that I loved was the way the trucks would get damaged in real time and the way they would blow up if you did a little too much damage.

Gameplay in Offroad Legends Sahara is a lot of fun. In a physics-based racing game for me it has to control right, and the guys at Dogbyte Games have gotten it perfect here. Like most games in this genre, you need to move your vehicle around a track as fast as you possible can. Of course you may just want to put the peddle to the metal and hope for the best, and this tactic may get you through a couple of levels, but for the most part all this will do is help you blow your truck up.

What you really need to master is the game’s precise controls. You will need to use the left and right arrow buttons on the screen in order to navigate the terrain as perfectly as you can. Not only will you need to drive over hills and gaps, but there are other obstacles in your way such as mines and lava pits. Your truck will get damaged so its not unusual to have to finish a level on just three wheels.

What makes the game play so great is that while you need to use precision to navigate the levels, you still need to try and beat the level in the fastest time possible. This makes for some very nerve-wrecking moments and you debate whether or not just to put the foot down, close your eyes, and hope for the best.

Offroad Legends Sahara is a worthy entry into a genre that is in danger of becoming over-crowded. Its amazing visuals and great controls make this a great addition to anyone’s game collection.
