If you have iOS 7 on your iPhone by now, then there are quite a few things you can do to make sure your privacy is protected so you and your iPhone can remain safe and secure.

1. The first thing to do if you haven’t yet is enable “Find my iPhone”. This will help you find it if you misplace it and can also track its location if it gets stolen through iCloud on your computer. To do this, go to Settings and then iCloud and make sure you are signed in. Then, make sure “Find My iPhone” is turned on. This will also make sure thieves can’t erase or activate your iPhone because you will have to enter a password before you can erase or activate your iPhone. This will also make sure they can’t turn off the tracking.

2. To keep advertisers from spying on your internet activities on your iPhone while you browse Safari, make sure you turn on Do Not Track. While this alerts advertisers not to track you, they still might and there is currently nothing you can do about this other than staying off of Safari.

3. Make sure you have “Fraudulent Website Warning” turned on in Safari. That will make sure that a warning is displayed whenever you are trying to open a site that might be a phishing site.

4. Disable location services for apps other than ones that require your location, such as Maps to keep them from tracking your location.

5. Disable apps from accessing your Mic if they don’t need it to operate properly by going to Settings, Privacy and then Microphone.
