Downloads – Downloader & Download Manager allows you to download multiple files off of a webpage and onto your ios device. This is useful if you want to download every music file, picture , or zip file off of a single webpage.
This app offers a lot of great features. You can use this app as a replacement for mobile safari. This app will handle video , audio ,pictures, and pdfs. A nice addition to this app would be handle zip files and be able to decompress them. The video, audio and picture viewers are decent. You also have the option to use the “open with” functionality of ios to open your downloads in a preferred app. You can also send your downloaded files to your Dropbox account for storage. Unfortunately a shortcoming that I’ve run into is that when you go to download files from a page you have to select them individually. On the computer side of things I’ve seen extensions for browsers which will download every link on the page or filter by file type to make downloading multiple files hassle free.
Part of me doesn’t understand why I would want to download a large amount of files onto my ios device, Mu iPad has 32 GB of storage and most of it is taken up by photos and music files. Although one user has posted in the reviews that he uses this app to put music on his ios device instead of syncing with iTunes. The reviews for this app are pretty much all glowing. This app has gone through a lot of bug fixes and seems pretty stable. I would love to see a full page download option as well as native support for the iPad. The developer has done an awesome job with this app. For $1.99 this app is a bargain.
