Any game that lets me kill zombies is going to get my attention. And when you mix in the visual art style of Minecraft with zombie shooting fun you have certainly got my attention. I know that games using Minecraft as their inspiration are a dime a dozen these days. And I guess you could argue that so are zombie games. But as long as they are fun really who the heck cares?

Now as far as the way this game looks goes……….. if you have seen Minecraft then you pretty much know what to expect here. This is not a knock on the developer at all. As is the case with any game that uses Minecraft as an inspiration they all have that same look to them. At least though Alex Krosnov fully admits that Minecraft was the inspiration for this.

Still though while this does have that Minecraft look to it. I love the zombie world that has been created here. It is something I have not actually seen yet in Minecraft. I am sure they are out there. But the zombie world that you will be trying your best to survive in here does look great. But at the same time if you are sick of this Minecraft craze then you really will not be won over by Pixel Gun 3D.

As far as the game play goes I will say right away that there really is not a great deal to Pixel Gun 3D. But what this game does have is a great deal of fun. You are just thrown into the zombie infested world and your only goal is to survive. A horde of zombies will come at you from all directions and you need to take them down. You never have a moments rest in this game because it feels like for every zombie you shoot down another two spawn in its place. This can lead to some really intense moments. You just keep on going until you run out of ammo or if you lose all of your hearts before then. This is a game that is all about getting the high score and that is your aim. You can compete with your buddies and try and beat there high scores. That is pretty much all there is to the game. And it actually is really fun. It plays very well the way you us the touch screen to move around and shoot is very responsive and easy to learn.

I really enjoyed this game, but it just left me wanting so much more. More weapons  for a start would have been nice. And I really do think that if this game had some kind of online multi player it would be huge. Maybe something along the lines of the Left 4 Dead games where it is you and some friends trying to survive against a horde of zombies.

While you have pretty much seen all this game has to offer after just one session. I would still say if you are a fan of shooters then you should pick it up. It’s only a buck and it is a game that I can see people playing over and over again as trying to beat your high score is very addictive. I really do hope that Alex Krosnov does not give up on this as I think a sequel really could be cool with some added content.
