Puzzle games by a country mile are one of the most popular genres of video games on the iOS right now. And here we have another contender stepping into the ring. Montezuma Puzzle is a fun shape-based puzzle game that just so happens have the setting of the good ol’ days of the Aztecs. So how does Montezuma Puzzle shape up (see what I did there!) against the competition? Well my fellow gamers read on to find out.

Montezuma Puzzle is one of those games that is incredibly easy on the eyes. It is not a graphical powerhouse that is absolutely full to the brim of little details, but it is very pleasant to look at. The developer Eco Pawel Jarosz describes this game as very relaxing and the visuals do really relax you. It’s hard to say exactly what it is about the visuals that do this, but they just work. It’s nice to see in this day and age of games with CGI cut scenes that rival a Hollywood movie. There are games that keeps it simple yet still manage to be great. The game does have an Aztec theme yet it is not over-used and works very well.  As well as the very nice visuals, one other thing that helps to make this a really relaxing game is the music. It is very soothing and does a great job in complimenting the graphics.

Of course looks in a puzzle game really do not mean a single thing if the game is no fun to play. Well the good news is that Montezuma Puzzle is a very fun game to play. It is one of those puzzle games that you can fire up and kick back on the sofa for half an hour and just play.

Montezuma Puzzle is a joy to play. At the start of each round you will see an empty shape and it is up to you to fill up this shape. You have a selection of shapes at the bottom of the game screen and this is where the challenge is. You see you need to fit in these pieces perfectly in order to complete the level. As of right now there are 100 different levels that will tease your brain, but there are many more coming in the next update for the game. One thing I loved about the game was how it would give you little hints in case you got a bit stuck.

Montezuma Puzzle is a ton of fun. It can be really tough for a puzzle game to walk that line of challenging and fun without stepping into the frustration zone. I am pleased to say that Montezuma Puzzle certainly achieves this. So if you are looking for a puzzle game that is just pure fun then this is well worth your time.
