iMovie HD Review

If you use your ios device to shoot most of your video and photos then you should get iMovie HD.  This app allows you to edit all of your media on your device.  This app should have come out at time of launch with the iPad. One of the reasons it probably didn’t come out with the earlier generations is the need for more horsepower from the devices.  The latest ios devices take amazing HD video.  I recorded a couple of matches at a robotics competition because my digital camera’s batteries went dead.   With iMovie HD I was able to edit the clips down and post them.  Although I’m excited to be able to edit my videos on my iPad I am slightly disappointed in the features available to iMovie HD when it comes to editing the video.  With iMovie on the computer I can add titles and place them where ever and change the duration.  In this version I have to create clips of my video and apply the title to that clip, this makes it a little difficult to edit like I’m use to on their computer counterpart.  Uploading to Facebook is very simple.  I was able to take one of my robotics videos and upload it fairly quickly once the iPad rendered my video. What I also like is when you post to Facebook you can specify what groups of people can see your video.

Another cool feature is the trailer creator. You select a template and you drop in your photos and videos.  This part of the app was a lot of fun but frustrating at the same time.  It took forever for my previews of my photos to show up so I could select which to put in the trailer.

iMovie Hd feels slightly unfinished and a little incomplete but is still worth the download.  The trailer feature of this app could keep you entertained and creating trailers forever.
