Both Cordy and Cordy Sky were pretty darn big hits for developer Silver Tree Media. And with Cordy 2 they are going to try and show the world that there can be a tremendous platform game on the iOS that can rival anything a home console can do.
Visually this is perhaps the best looking platform game I have had the pleasure of playing on my iPad. Now the games does not go for ultra realistic looking graphics, but the art direction here is absolutely phenomenal. There is just so much detail in each level that some times it is a shame that the game moves so fast as you miss some of the hard work the people behind this game put into it.

The level of depth in the levels is great as well not only is there a ton of stuff going on. But the far backgrounds are also very well detailed. The games story is a little lacking and I have actually heard people complain about this, but really who cares? I remember back in the 80’s and 90’s many platform games then had the bare bones of a story, but it did not mater all you wanted to do was beat each level. And that is the feel I got with Cordy 2.

The basic idea of the game is that you play as a nice robot who is trying to save other nice robots from bad robots. That really is all there is to it. Each level requires you to get to the end. Like many games there is a three star ranking at stake here. If you beat the level in a time frame this will help to get that, but there are also hidden tokens for you to collect as well. And not to mention the gears you can pick up. Think of the gears as what the coins are in Super Mario or what the rings are in Sonic.

The basic game play is very simple you only have four on screen buttons to worry about. You can move left and right, a jump button and a action button. Cordy controls well enough and he moves at a really fast pace. So if you are new to platform games you may find it a little alarming if I am honest. There are a few power ups that you can get and I have kind of mixed feelings with these. One in particular is this little robot who helps you run at a crazy speed. The problem with this is it is so easy to activate this by accident. It may sound petty, but this did happen on a few occasions.

Cordy 2 is a great looking game. And it is easily the best looking platform game I have played in a while, but the price if you ask me is a little on the steep side. If you just bought the game and that was it then fair enough. But there is more than a few in app purchases that the game will try and get you to buy. Cordy 2 is a great game if you want to show off the visual capabilities of your device. And its a nice little platform game in its own right. I am just not so sure about the price tag.
