CNBC Alarm Clock ReviewCNCBC Alarm clock by Universal Inc is a free iPod/iPhone app. The description claims that you can wake up and get the state of the S&P market in the words of your favorite CNBC anchors in their own words, along with getting important news updates and guest schedules. I feel this app doesn’t offer much.

The first thing I noticed is that the app tells you that it has to be in the foreground for best results for using the alarm clock function. What they should state is this app should be in the foreground and your ipod should be on. I tried the alarm clock function and when the alarm went off I received a notification alert instead of an actual alarm. This app did not work consistently enough to be used as an alarm clock. I also feel like the description is misleading. When the alarm does go off you hear the alarm you selected and a short sound bite from the anchor you selected saying the market is up or down.. A few of the sounds you can choose from are alarm clock, applause, bear, birds, bull, coins and factory whistle to name a few. When I first read the description of the app I was under the impression that the alarm would go off and I would get the highlights from my favorite show or anchor. The main screen displays the time, weather and a box, which can display top stories and videos as well as the current state of the S&P market.

I’m not sure if the reason this app is horrible as an alarm clock is because of programming limitations by ios or if the developers just threw something together. The reviews for this app are mixed. A few people share my opinion that this app is a waste of time to download.
