Well it really does not take a rocket scientists to figure out the audience that Shuwen Hu is going for with Block Force: World Warfare does it? Clearly aimed at fans of the Call of Duty series and other first person shooters as well. But if that was not enough this has been done in the style of Minecraft which I think is a very clever and interesting idea. Taking two genres of game like first person shooter and Minecraft and putting them together really should be a slam dunk. But a few people have tried and many have failed, but this one here is actually pretty darn fun.

First off all let’s talk about the graphics. I really do hate trying to critique a game that uses Minecraft style visuals in terms of its graphics. Not because I hate them, but because after a while I feel like I am saying the same thing over and over again. If you have played or seen Minecraft or any of the games based on Minecraft then you know what to expect here in terms of visuals. One thing though I was pleasantly surprised with was the games sound. It is actually pretty good and the soundtrack I think does go with the game pretty well.

Now I think that the main reason people will want to play this game is because of the online multi player. Of which I have played a fair bit. And I will say that the game is pretty good online and that I had pretty much no slowdown or any issues like that. It was a smooth game playing experience which is all you can ask for. Now there was one downside to the online multi player and that was there was just not enough people playing this. Now as I write this at the end of May 2013 there was not a great deal of people playing this online. So I hope that by the time you guys read this there will be a dedicated community of fans for this game. As really from an online multi player point of view the game is a great deal of fun.

There is also a single player mode as well for you to have some fun with, but if I am being honest the AI is really not up to scratch. It is not the worst first person shooter AI that I have encountered, but it never really puts up much of a fight. But like I said the main reason for playing this game is the online multi player. One thing that is cool is that you can make your own levels. I have played a few first person shooters in the Minecraft style lately and for some reason more than a few do not let you make your own levels, but you can in this game which does add a great deal to the game play.

I think if you are a fan of first person shooters then you really should buy this. At under a buck and with no in app purchases it’s a really great deal. Forget the Minecraft looks and this is a great little shooter that is fun to play. And I am sure as the community builds so will the fun.
